Fictitious Business Names

A ficticuous or doing business as, DBA, name is any name for a particular business other than that of the owner's or the name of the corporate entity. Sometimes these DBA names are also known as trade names or assumed names.

In order to obtain a DBA name in California, a business owner must ensure the desired name is not already in use. To determine whether or not your name is in use please visit the Secretary of State's Name Availability page. Once it has been determined the desired name is available, you must proceed to file a fictitious business name statement to the county clerk's office in the county which the business resides.

Here at Reeder and Associates we can assist with designing an appropriate name for your business as well as handle the necessary paperwork to ensure the process goes smoothly.
